Voices from the Reading Room – surprise fiction in cult locations, THIS MONTH
So, it’s been a while, but I have a lot to update on.
The first (and very exciting) thing is that I’m lucky enough to be reading at a Voices from the Reading Room event later this month on Monday 27 April.
These events will feature a series of writers reading their work in cult locations – this one being the gorgeous Gladstone’s Library in Hawarden – which will be recorded for radio broadcast. They’re organised and hosted by mega-talented local poet Suzanne Iuppa, who has just taken over chairing Chester Writers.
You can catch the recording streamed live on air (or catch up and listen later) but if you want to be part of the real atmospheric experience, you can attend in person.
It’s a completely free event, and all are welcome. The readings/recording start at 7pm – but get there early to be guaranteed a seat. You can join the Facebook event page and let us know you’re coming here.
Readers in the Library, Monday 27 April 2015:
- Sophie McKeand
- Kemal Houghton
- Die Booth
- Luned DeSimon
I’ve also had some more good news on short stories. A story of mine that was published last year has been nominated for an award by the editor of the anthology it was featured in (the judging is anonymous though, so I best not specify titles!) which is really lovely for me to know they think it was worth nominating.
I’ve also just had my story ‘Making Friends’ accepted for publication in Issue 2 of ‘Shooter Literary magazine‘ which I’m thrilled about and can’t wait to share with people.
I think that’s about all in terms of updates for now – please remember that my single author collection ‘365 Lies‘ is still available to buy from Lulu and all proceeds still go to the MNDA, so please carry on spreading the word about that and encouraging people to donate to a very worthy charity (even if they don’t buy the book!)
