Re-Vamp review competition

December 1, 2011

It’s December 1st and a whole month has gone by since the launch of Re-Vamp! Thank you to everyone who has bought the book so far and I hope that you’re enjoying it. To mark the one month anniversary of the anthology and to help promote the book, I’m running a little competition to win a completely valueless and yet quite priceless prize..!

The prize

The winner gets to name a minor character in my forthcoming novel, ‘Embedded’ and gets a thankyou for it on the acknowledgements page.

How you enter

To enter, what we at Mad Doctors HQ would like you to do is write us a review of Re-Vamp. This can be as long or as short as you like and can be anywhere you like – Amazon, Goodreads, Facebook, your local newspaper, your online journal. We’re not just after mates reviews, we’re after honest reviews – if you think the anthology sucks, then say so and give your reasons. If you thought it was OK and want to give it three stars instead of five, then please do – we won’t stop speaking to you because of it! But if you think it’s the most refreshing collection of horror stories you’ve read in years then don’t be afraid to heap on the praise, either. A really good example of a review is over here at Susan Price’s Nennius blog.

Once you’ve written your review, you need to let us know, so email me a link to it at die.booth[at] with the words ‘REVIEW COMPETITION’ in the email subject line.

How we pick a winner

The competition will be open until January 31st 2012 (to give all of you who are getting the book for Christmas time to read and enter!) All entrants names will be (literally, and I will post a photo) written down on slips of paper and put in a hat and the winner will be drawn out at random. If you write us more than one review in more than one place, then send us links to both and your name will be entered twice (or the appropriate amount of times for your number of reviews). Please be careful not to spam with identical reviews though! The winner will be notified on February 1st 2012 via email.

Terms and conditions

Stands to reason but – to enter you have to have read Re-Vamp. If you already read the stories over the past year while they were still posted online, then no purchase is necessary. Otherwise, you can buy Re-Vamp for just £3.69 on Kindle or purchase other e-book formats from Smashwords. You can also purchase print copies of Re-Vamp from Lulu for worldwide customers or buy Re-Vamp via Amazon for US customers. Obviously this prize has no monetary value ~because it is PRICELESS~. I will decide which character is alloted the name you choose. They can be named after you, or you can make a name up. The name can’t be a pre-existing character name or the name of a famous person (it would be both illegal and a bit ridiculous to have a character in my novel called Oliver Twist) and it must also be within reason, to my discretion (I’m not having anyone called Gavin Facetrousers, no matter how hilarious that would be.) You will also have the option to be thanked on the acknowledgements page of the book. No guarantee can be given as to the exact date on which I finally finish editing and get ‘Embedded’ published and I can’t guarantee that you’ll like the book either, but I can promise you that it will be published in some format eventually!

So – get reading and reviewing and please do spread the word about this competition and Re-Vamp in general. We’re relying on you to help unleash some good, old-fashioned horror onto the world!

I’m also holding a contest: I’ll be sending some books from my library to the lucky winner, drawn at random from all the reviewers of Re-Vamp and/or the other two anthologies I have new stories in.

To enter my contest, you have to leave the link (or links) to your reviews in my blog, since Die and I are doing separate contests, :-D

I hope to hear from many of you, and good luck!
